If you have a V6 there is a nice flat spot(triangular) on the firewall behind the drivers strut tower /it's single layer and easily drilled ...Be sure to use a grommet or silicone to prevent chafing...
that's the spot i run all my wires off the battery, just drill at the lowest point possible there and it will come out just above and to the left of your brake pedal about a foot away from it. then you run it under the carpet or under the molding on the drivers side back under the rear seats and into the trunk. that's the safest way.
I recently added power windows to a base modle. I ran the power from the fuse box on the left side of the cabin. I just picked an empty fuse spot and added a circuit to it. It is protected by an inline 30 amp fuse. I was going to go thru the firewall but I just tapped into the electricity there.
i realize that this thread is old, but to wire up my amp i punched a hole in the rubber seal thing that has a large bundle of wires already running through the firewall on the passenger side under the carpet. after the hole is made stick a straighted coat hanger or something similar through into the engine compartment, tape your power wire onto it and pull it back through the gromet.
I drilled a hole though the firewall just above where the brake pedal goes through. It is pretty easy to tuck under the carpet and you won't have it snaking around in the engine compartment. Just be careful of what is on the other side of the wall. Use a bolt as reference.
