I FINALLY got my car back and it is running normal again.  it took 3 different mechanics and a crazy amount of rediculous suggestions for "fixing" it, but I finally have it back.

As you may know, my 98 sebring lxi was sputtering and stalling, yet it would idle perfectly and if you mashed it, it would be fine until you let off the gas.  Well, I took it to the Chrysler dealer and they couldn't find anything wrong with it.  No codes, or nothing.  They called me and said that they noticed there was an aftermarket exhaust and suggested returning that system to stock becuase it may be causing strange backpressure readings and causing the issues.

I said, no way.  Then they mention the EGR, but they said it was checked and seemed to be fine.  I said, replace it anyway, since thats the cheaper of the two options you have given me.  He says that he doesn't recomend that but they will do it.

Calls today and says that the new EGR fixed it!!  Unreal.  Bastards charged me, of course, for all the diagnostics.

Anyhow, it runs great.  I just don't know why it wasn't sending a CEL code or something.

Glad to hear that its fixed.

In all my dealership experience with Chrysler, it always seems like they can't find/fix the problem. They also always charge at least 80 bucks for a diagnostic. I still think that the "5 Star Dealership" crap means that it will take at least 5 tries to get the job done (almost) right.

Glad to hear you have it up and running.  I find it weird that the EGR was the answer.  I never recommend dealers, regular shops are more likely to look for the real problem than to settle on a fake one.

Mod List.  Um WAY too many to fit on here.  But the engine can handle about 800HP

it's fairly common not to get a cel with a bad egr. if you do get a code, it's generally for low flow. meaning the thing has finally crapped itself up full of carbon and either blocked the line or the valve is stuck close. if the valve sticks open, you'll get flow..all the time. even with the solenoid functioning fine.
a temporary egr blockoff is an easy way to troubleshoot.
