So yesterday I got everything I needed to give my car its weekly wash.  I grabbed at the bottle that I used last week to fill my soap bucket.  Turns out the bottle contains Turtle Wax, NOT car soap!!

I hosed down my car and the water beaded up extremely well and didn't dry quickly.  Even in the parts that were in direct sunlight.  This also explains why I couldn't get my car dirty in time for the local high school's cheerleader car wash.

Waxing your car when you think you're washing it has gotta be one of the goofier things I've done, but it worked and with very little elbow grease.  Only problem is my windows and painted/polished rims have wax on em' too.
