Weird Whistle after Tune Up
« on: June 29, 2006, 06:02:23 AM »

Huh  Huh This isnt on a Sebring or Avenger but you might be able to help me anyway.  I did a Tune up on my cousins Van.  Its a 95 Grand Voyager LE with the 3.3 litre engine.  I replace the front set of plugs last weekend without any problems.  I didnt do the back cause i was gonna get a new upper intake manifold gasket so I can take the manifold/plenum off to make it easier.  After getting it all put back together, it runs ok, no misfires or sputtering but at idle, there is a whistle coming from under the hood & I cant find it anywhere.  Any ideas where is might be from?  Any help is greatly appreciated.  Smiley

Edit:  Yeah, i did do the back but I did it a few days later after the front.  Forgot to add that in there.

OK you said you didn't do the rears, but it sounds like you might have?  If you did the rears I'd check the gasket make sure it's on the right way.  I don know about the Voyager, but some vehicles have gaskets that need to face a certain way, that might be the problem.  Or manifold just isn't torqued to spec and is sucking in air which create the whistling.

Mod List.  Um WAY too many to fit on here.  But the engine can handle about 800HP

HA!  Turns out it was the rubber elbow on the PCV valve.  I must have split it while working back there.  Thanks for all the ideas tho.   Grin

umm not a Positive Crancase Ventilation Vent

I am sure the structural integrity of the valve was uncomprimised.

given the engineers upon diagnosis of a prior concern did not interchange the initial manifold for one of nominal value. If so the the current problem would have been forseen and therefore compromised.
