5spd for the v6????
« on: June 16, 2006, 04:06:06 AM »

I've been doing some research here lately and have found that the A543 5spd trans from the 3.0 shadow and the 91-93 iroc daytona is direct bolt up to the 2.5 v6 there may still be the issues of mount fab. I believe that fidanza can make a custom flywheel to solve the CPS prob too. Thoughts or ideas ne 1??? I got the info from FWD motion performance in Delaware. They pretty much deal with the mopar turbo cars but have done some v6 stuff in the past. But they are a good source for info on the earlier mopar fwd stuff.

if you can find a solution to the cps problem you'll be everyones hero. that has always been the sticking point.
i doubt the a543 is gonna have the same bolt pattern as our a604, but you may be right..

the earlier 3.0 used in the mopar line up have the same bolt patern according to FWD Motion. I believe there was something about the Cps being located on the front of the 3gen 3.0 that is used for our swaps (it was on the write up from sandman on doing the swap. I have tried contacting Exile racing on several occasions to confirm this but have not talked to any one yet. The main concern was is it there and is it compatiable with the 2.5 ecm signal. If these are true the the cps prob is solved. The 5spd swap seems to be looking more doable without a ton of mods. I prefer to do the research before jumping into this kind of project and have weeks or months of downtime on my sebring.but I will continue to research this out even more.

Just a quick update... the 3.0 used for the upgrade swap does have the CPS on front side of the engine!!! Still working on the question if this can be used instead of the CPS used on the 2.5 or modded to work with the current 2.5 ECM.

I know the axle shafts are different, however that is minor obsticle compared to the cps problem. The other things to figure out is keeping the speedo working and accurate. Like I said right now I'm just doing the research on this project.  Btw sroufe i'm not trying to be pissy about just in case it sounds that way sorry. The A543 should only need minor mods to fit if at all.
