Engine RPM at idle.
« on: February 01, 2006, 12:19:37 AM »

How many RPM's are our V6 venges supposed to idle at?  Right now I'm idling at about 650-700 RPMs after treating my car with SeaFoam.  What is everyone else idleing at?

Mine was jumping to 2000 rpm, but I changed the throttle position sensor and that fixed the problem. Now she's back to around 650-750.

Sounds right to me.  So long as it's stable it should be the right RPM, as it's computer-controlled through the idle air control (IAC) motor.  Unless that motor fails, something confuses the computer (faulty TPS) or the computer itself goes bad.
