My '95 sebring has low oil pressure. Any idea where to start on getting that fixed? Is this something simple or do I need to have the pump and or rings redone? Also the car idles at only about 500rpm...is that normal? I think it should be closer to 800-1000rpm. O and one more thing. When the car is stopped it smells of burnt antifreeze....could a head gasket problem make all of this happen?
next time you go for a drive, see if you can see the oil needle rise as you press the gas. if so, you are good to go. it's supposed to do that (got me the first time I drove the car. asked the dealer, felt kinda ashamed, lol)

even at idle it should hold a minimum amount of oil pressure, but it could be lower because he did something as small as switching oils to a different weight

I was driving one night and looked down and saw my oil pressure was at nothing (or AKA not reading) I freaked out pulled over thought I for sure did major damage to the block. Turns out no leaks or nothing so I investigate and find that the wire to the sensor muts have been loose from recent trans work and just ratteled of the sensor. :Whew:

If I run full synthetic my oil pressure gauge sits around "0" , but oil CEL wont light ... Soon as I press gas it'll sit mid gauge ... If I go to Synthetic Blend it sits mid gauge at all times
Hi Guys, sorry I haven't replied...been in the hospital having a baby.
Ok, so I assume the pressure is low cause the gauge says it is low. When idle, it is below the "normal" lines. When driving, it goes up to about half way.
I need to change the oil and was wondering if it would be better for me to go synthetic or just get a higher weight. Right now i'm using a high mileage 10w30. Also probably going to put some lucas oil treatment in. Let me know what you guys think.
Dodge says 10W30 or 5W30. I wouldn't go other oils. would be interesting to see what happens with an oil change, but I can't fathom that changing the pressure guage.
when ever I am at idle, the pressure is low. I can take a pic tomorrow if you'd like
oh, and this
