It takes 1.43lbs of refrigerant, I can tell you that much. You add the oil with the refrigerant. Usually you can go to your local auto parts store and they have do it yourself kits that are pretty easy for recharging. Make sure you get one with a guage so you don't over fill your system. As far as filling it you use the low port.

As you can see there is one marked L and one marked H. L = Low side H= High side.
The most important advice I can give you is when you replace the compressor make sure it is going to work. When you replace a compressor make sure you check your drive belts and tensioners, engine cooling system and you really should Clean the A/C system, replace the Drier/Accumulator, replace the orifice tube and expansion valve. Make sure you have the correct oil for the system (Probably PAG 100 but I will double check) and the correct freon (R134a). If you do get a DIY kit (Do It Yourself) make sure that it does NOT have a stopleak in it. That will cause premature failure of a compressor and gum up other parts.
I would also hurry if you are going to go get it to do yourself, there is rumor that they are going to outlaw the DIY freon kits in about a month due to people being stupid and venting it into the atmosphere. Hope this helps.
On a side note, I just realized I need to clean my engine bay something fierce.
